Centre for Mental Health’s The Balance Garden

A collaboration between the excellent charity Centre for Mental Health and our sister company Wild City Studio. This garden celebrates the potential for genuine nature connection within the urban canvas, reimagining our public parks and often neglected spaces. The urban community garden will celebrate the relationship between nature and our social and mental health, creating new communities to come together and steward our urban futures.

Bringing together the perceived opposites of the human and natural world into a vision of “Balance” the garden creates a healing space for its urban community to engage in and steward together. Using repurposed materials alive with urban character and innovative and affordable planting techniques the garden promotes a wild industrial beauty and a win win for wildlife and people under current environmental pressures.

We were fortunate enough and are thrilled to be working with Project Giving Back who were pivotal in making the seed of this idea a reality. The most important aspect to this journey will be the garden's legacy. This garden will be rehomed at Markfield Park in Tottenham, London, the perfect place to home these ideas and concepts to create real change and impact to the local community.

Working with Centre For Mental Health gives us the opportunity to document and record the positive impact on the communities mental health, partnered with ecological surveys and affordability we want this to be the poster child for re-imagining our urban spaces, a ready made model we can roll out to councils and developers and show the clear impact nature connection can have in our urban communities.
