stolen body records

Alex, Suz and their son Max (Jr) are a young family who just moved into a new property and were looking for a redesign of their fairly uninspiring new garden.

Alex is the Owner of independent record label 'Stolen Body Records' and Suz is a seamstress and clothing designer so it was important to tailor the space with a unique and fresh perspective.

The aim for this garden was to create a series of outdoor living areas that are suited to entertaining and relaxation. A contemporary style was discussed with an eye to create innovative bespoke structures with raw materials. Pale gravel, cast concrete and gabion cages create a great backdrop for more vibrant planting choices and also tie the new garden into the old worn brickwork.

We were very keen to boost the biodiversity of the space and to juxtapose the hard landscaping with soft naturalistic ecological planting. We decided to embrace the limited light conditions towards the back of the garden to create a ‘woodland’ which envelops an open garden room and emerges out into a fire pit seating area surrounded by woodland edge matrix planting and perennial meadow. A new dining terrace and BBQ area sit closer to the house with generous cast concrete steps that lead down towards a basement room.
